Adjustable Furniture Glides
Those which are used for adjusting the height are hence they are called as 'leveling glide'. These are available in various sizes and design. They are made of very strong steel. The top portion is called as the 'stead' and this is mounted on a high quality steel base and the steel base in turn is firmly placed on a strong rubber of nylon base. The glide in turn has thread with nuts of appropriate size. This is used to adjust the height of the instrument.
The other type of glide normally used is a gadget which helps to move the instrument horizontally or vertically. The best example for this is moving the position of the computer monitor. The LCD or flat screen monitor is mounted on a Swivel glide which has round bottom. This in turn is mounted on a base having a cup. The round bottom of the glide is inserted into the cup and this enables the movement of the monitor the user desires.
Uses in furniture:
This gadget is largely used in furniture as well. There are many glider chairs which provide lot of comfort to the user. There are also sliding glider also called as slider. This is used to move the furniture from one place to the other. This can be used for moving the machinery also. Now, this gadget is becoming popular. However, this is useful for moving materials of light weight.
Another important factor of this gadget is that it has long life and does not require any maintenance etc. However, some suggest that sliders require to be cleaned often. This is because sliders may attract some dust and the dust normally gets accumulated near the ball bearing. In such a situation, the movement becomes sluggish.
These are available in many designs depending on the type of furniture or machinery. This small gadget has added more utility into the machine. Considering the utility, it can be said that the cost of the glide is reasonable.
